Main purpose of the role:
To ensure the Fruit and Veg Department operates efficiently and effectively at all times and provides our customers with excellent quality products and customer service.

The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Minimum 1 years` experience as a Sales Assistant with experience in Fresh Food Departments and ordering
- Excellent communication skills
- Have a true passion for the food industry and as such be creative and innovative with the fresh offering
- The ability to inspire, lead and motivate employees
- The ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi task under pressure

Main duties:

- Achieve sales targets and margins as agreed with the store manager
- Adhere to weekly stocktaking procedures
- Ensure purchasing of stock is carried out in accordance with procedures and control of stock rotation, so that the quality and freshness of the goods is of the highest order;
- Participate in quality review meetings and ensure actions resulting from same are carried out
- Minimise waste and shrink in the department
- Merchandise and present the department to the highest standard at all times
- Bring new ideas to the department through regular research and benchmarking against competitors
- Deal with all customer queries and efficiently, professionally and consistent with store policy
- Engage with new initiatives and embrace new ways of working

Specific Purpose Fixed Term Contract

Fruit & Veg/Produce Chargehand Opportunity at Moriarty`s Super Valu Skerries, Co. Dublin.

The Moriarty Group is an Irish owned company which was established in Dublin in 1988. The Group is involved in both the retail grocery and hospitality industries. The Group currently comprises of three large Super Valu stores situated in Balbriggan and Skerries, North County Dublin and Palmerstown, Dublin 20 and two 4* Hotels, The Bracken Court Hotel, Balbriggan and The Court Yard Hotel, Leixlip, Co. Kildare.

We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Fruit & Veg/Produce Chargehand to join our professional and highly skilled management team in our busy Skerries Store on a Specific Purpose Fixed Term Contract basis.

The Position:

The Fruit & Veg./Produce Chargehand contract is being offered on a specified purpose fixed term contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of our large fruit & Veg/produce department.

Under this contract the Fruit & Veg/Produce Chargehand will work an average of 45 hours per week, 5 days over 7 to include weekends and public holidays for the duration of the contract.

Main Duties:

• Working as part ofthe store`s managementteam
• Department Set up/display.
• Staff training & development
• Ensuring compliance with all legislation applicable to the industry
• Ensuring customers experience excellent service at all times.
• Ensuring the department is presented in a professional manner.
• Stock Ordering
• Stock-takes
• Driving sales & margin in the department.
• HACCP duties
• Ensuring all company policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to

Requirements:

• Must be fluent in the English Language both verbal and written.
• A minimum of 2/3 years` experience in a similar role within a fresh food-oriented business - preferably with high volume sales.
• Previous fruit & veg experience in a Super Valu store would be an advantage but is not essential.
• Must have a good knowledge of financial reports relevant to department e.g., sales reports.
• Must have a strong eye for detail.
• Must have strong organisational skills.
• Excellent communications skills
• Excellent leadership skills
• Strong knowledge of fruit & veg/produce in general.
• Must be trained in the principles of HACCP.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Must be available for early starts.
• Strong people management skills
